About the Founder
Did you know: the sense of smell has been found to have a stronger link to memory and emotion than any other sense? (You can read more about this on Discovery's website here.)
I remember reading about that in my college psychology textbook back in 2011 and thinking: "well, that explains a lot." I have always felt a strong connection to certain scents.
If you know me, you will know my strongest sense - and a defining characteristic about myself - is my extremely sensitive sense of smell. Some have even (lovingly I'd like to think) referred to me as a "bloodhound" for my ability to track down smells.
I've always felt it's evidence of a little bit of magic. Almost like my own superpower.
My favorite scents have always held a special place in my heart and I have lots of emotions and memories tied to them.
Officially founded in February 2024, Dragon & Sunflower is truly a dream turned into a reality. The name is inspired by my favorite flower and my love for all things magical (hence the tattoo --> ).
For many years I have wanted to start my own small business so I could have the freedom and opportunity to fund organizations and causes I'm passionate about - like bee and other wildlife organizations - but I could never pin down exactly what I wanted to produce.
In 2022, I starting making candles just for fun - and a little bit because I was so frustrated at how expensive in-store candles had become, and at never being able to find the right scent (I'm sure some of you can relate).
In December of that year, I decided to make candles for family and friends as gifts for the holidays, and they were an unexpected hit! Since then, I have devoted countless hours to creating and testing my products - and getting prepared to officially launch my business!
